NeuroSmog: Determining the impact of air pollution on the developing brain
Project is carried out within the TEAM-NET programme of the Foundation for Polish Science.
NeuroSmog combines four scientific teams in the fields of pollution assessment, child psychology, neuroimaging and epidemiology with the common goal of determining the impact of ambient air pollution on the developing brain in school age children. Using MRI scans and in-depth psychological testing of cases of ADHD and a control group selected from the general population, he NeuroSmog project endeavours to investigate the effects of air pollution on behavioural and neural changes in school-age children.
The appointed candidate will have following key responsibilities:
· coordinating and line managing a new child psychology team, set up to deliver the objectives of the NeuroSmog project;
· advisory of establishing Child Psychology team;
· carrying out psychological studies in school-age children in southern Poland through a network of state/local clinics and population data registers
· planning and coordination of recruitment process of participants from ADHD and control group;
· coordination of diagnostic process (in ADHD and control group), including liaising with the neuroimaging, environmental epidemiology and exposure assessment teams;
· coordinating the process of collecting and coding data from psychological research
· participation in planning of statistical analysis of the collected psychological data
- conducting state-of-the-art psychological analysis and report findings in high impact peer-reviewed journals and international conferences
The post is a fixed-term appointment for 4 years (part-time job, ½ time) and will be made to the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
The gross salary will be 480 000 PLN of full remuneration cost (gross income with all costs of employer), i.e. expected net salary at 282 720,00 PLNafter all deductions) per annum, which would provide for a comfortable standard of living in Kraków, where the cost of
living is considerably lower than the European average.
